How to Write a Good Dating Profile

Think Positively

Portraying a positive image of yourself on your online dating profile will increase your chances of attracting singles with positive personalities. Write about what makes you feel good about your life right now. Write about your hobbies, your work, your last holidays, and so on. People who are reading your profile understand that you are single and looking for love online. There is no need to wallow in self-pity.

Always talk about the type of people you want to meet, rather than talking about what you don’t want. It especially applies to matters of ethnicity, religion, and physical build.

Avoid using expressions like “no gold-diggers” as you don’t want people to instantly think that you are tight with money.

Instead of using phrases like “no time wasters please”, give a description of what you consider to be a waste of time.

There are cases when it is acceptable to write about what you don’t want. You can mention that you want to meet non smokers or people with no children.

Use Humour

Feel free to bring humour to your dating profile as everyone loves to laugh. Don’t work too hard to make your profile really funny. All you should care about is that if something makes you laugh, it will make a similar-minded person laugh too. Some people may be put off by your jokes, but you don’t want to go out with such people anyway. You have nothing to worry about as long as none of your jokes are seen as offensive.

Get Friends and Family to Help

It is becoming very common for people to share their dating profiles with friends and family and ask for advice. Your close friends and family can help you come up with a better description of yourself and your character. It is also an excellent way of getting a second opinion about your dating profile. You spend a lot of time with them. So ask them what they think are particularly representative of your character.
